Are you tired of not knowing whether a guy really likes you or if he’s just playing you? Maybe you’re struggling with a relationship that seems to be turning sour.
Even if you’re interested in someone and are curious if you should pursue him, check out my five reasons you need a Tarot Deck for your love life. You’d be surprised how much they help!
How Do Tarot Cards Work?
As mystifying as some believe, Tarot is actually something that reflects things in your own subconscious. All the answers you could ever need are within you, it’s just a matter of accessing those answers.
How would you go about getting some insight from yourself? Tarot Cards! They are the stepping stones of the situation and where it may be headed provided you continue on the same track.
In Tarot, there are many different layouts. Each and every card in the deck holds a specific meaning. Typically, the cards will come with a booklet to help teach you the basics of each card.
There are the Major Arcana, which are the big players in the cards. They are ruled by Planets rather than the Zodiac signs. They have a deeper meaning and work well for advice.
The Minor Arcana will have the four suits, much like in a playing card deck. There are Cups, Wands, Pentacles, and Swords. Cups tend to represent love, relationships, and healing.
These are what you’d look for when you’re asking about a relationship, as it will often bring up your feelings or your partner’s feelings. The Wands represent an air element which is about practicalities in life.
This would be more angled toward life path and activities. The Pentacle suit represents money, finances, and possessions. Swords represent transitions that can either be very easy or very difficult.
Astrology & Tarot Are Connected
The connection with Astrology and Tarot is that these suits also represent Zodiac elements such as these:
Cups = Water Signs (Pisces, Scorpio, Cancer)
Wands = Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Pentacles = Earth Signs (Virgo, Capricorn, Taurus)
Swords = Fire Signs (Sagittarius, Leo, Aries)
Tarot Reads Your Subconscious
These are the basics of Tarot Cards. Each Tarot Deck has that booklet with not only the meaning behind the cards, but they also include a few tarot layouts. These are positions that each mean something in particular.
When a card is placed into one of these positions you need to then consider the card’s meaning along with the position’s purpose as well. Combine them and you get some pretty amazing insight.
Such positions would be Past, Present, and Future. That is a basic three card layout but there are many more that have more cards involved and more positions.
Here is an example of how this works so that you get a really good idea of what using Tarot is like:
The questioner asks: Will things likely work out with Steve?
The cards are shuffled in the preference of the person doing the card reading (this is you if you’re reading for yourself)
Using the three-card spread (past, present, future), the cards are laid in order.
The first Card is 2 of Cups – Remember what I told you. It’s a water sign, it’s a relationship card, plus it’s in the past position. This would mean that in the recent past you had an encounter that either landed you in a relationship or just a friendship with love possibility.
The second Card is 3 of Wands… This is in the present position. This would be an air sign, everyday life and actions with wands. The meaning of the card is waiting with optimism. You know something can happen but you’re waiting to see how it happens or if it happens.
The third Card is the Empress… The 3rd position is the near future. The Empress herself is about growth and new beginnings. It can be fertility, new ideas, new project, a new relationship. That being said, she’s associated with Venus. Venus is the planet of love.
Now that you see the layout you have to now formulate the actual answer the question. That would be combining the information and here is how that looks:
You started something fresh with Steve that was exciting, romantic, and filled with hope of a relationship or you entered into a relationship with him. Right now, you’re waiting to see where it goes. You feel good about it and seems to be that a future with him is possible. Coming up there seems to be a new beginning in love and that would mean that “Yes, it’s very likely that things will work out with Steve.”
That is how the Tarot works in a nutshell. Again, there are many different layouts, and it would probably help you to have an actual book on how to read Tarot Cards to learn even more!
The Cards Are Truthful
Before you start any reading, you’ll want to relax. Do some deep breathing, listen to calm music, and perhaps burn incense. It gets you into more of a meditative state which helps you be objective to the answer you get.
Go into the reading knowing that something will come out from inside you that you cannot otherwise access so easily. That being said, it also means that the reading is objective.
The reason I mentioned being objective is because you cannot go into this expecting a certain answer. If you do and it’s not the answer you were looking for, then you may try to argue with it or justify it somehow.
This is not healthy for you and can form a bad habit with Tarot, which isn’t something you want to do. You want to use them simply to get a simple answer of which you can use to make choices that will help you.
Objectivity is a must!
You can change the course of the path of the question as can the person you’re asking about. You both have free will to do as you choose. Let’s take a look at the right types of questions to get the answers you seek.
Questions Best For Tarot Readings On Love:
1. Is he the right guy for me?
2. Will he want to be with me?
3. Does he love me?
4. Are we going to end up together?
5. Is he only with me?
6. Is he cheating?
7. Is he lying?
8. Does he want to marry me?
9. Am I in the right relationship?
10. Is it likely I will marry this person?
Knowing how to ask the right questions is so important when using Tarot to exercise it correctly and getting accurate answers. Remember that you cannot begin with a vision of the cards what you want to see!
There is an element of using your intuition to help you tell if it’s your desires or if you are truly being objective enough to see the truth.
Tarot Cards Are Objective
Yes, there are things that should never be asked because you will never get a clear answer or you’ll get the wrong answer. Here are some of the top questions not to ask with the tarot cards for your love life:
1. Is this person my soul mate?
2. Is this person my twin flame?
3. Will he ever marry me?
4. Is he “the one?”
5. Does he like me as much as I like him?
6. Why did he stop talking to me?
7. Will he come back?
8. What is he thinking?
It’s not that these questions cannot be answered; it’s that when you’re using the cards for yourself, you have to keep it very direct and objective. Trying to read questions like these will give you confusing answers.
You will get frustrated and try to reason with the cards and then start obsessively reading them. That’s not good for you!
The idea is going at it detaching yourself from the question as though you’re doing a reading for someone else. That way the answer comes out clear and makes sense.
It’s true you may not like it when it’s a “no” or it’s a response you really don’t like. The thing is, it’s the truth and so you have to find a way to allow yourself to see it that way.
Also, remember you do have the power to change your side of the outcome but when it comes to the other person; they have to stay the same or change their outcome. There are two people involved.
My advice is if you want these types of questions looked into, you should probably seek out someone who has been doing it for quite some time until you have been doing readings long enough.
They Give Great Love Advice!
Now that I’ve given you some basics, let’s look into how the cards can advise you. This is the cool part about doing a reading for yourself about your love life with Tarot.
When you pull some cards, ask questions like:
Should I keep pursuing this relationship?
Should I forgive him?
I’m not sure if I should marry him, what do I do?
Should I go out with him?
The tarot cards can and will answer you with what you should do in any situation. They will basically pull out from inside you what is the right thing to do. You have all the answers within.
Your intuition knows everything that is lucrative for you or isn’t fitting. Keep that in mind. Here is a perfect example of how they can advise you:
You ask: “Should I keep seeing this guy or give up?”
You are shuffling while focusing on the cards and pull out three.
The first Card is the recent past… it’s the Ace of Cups. This means that clearly he romanced you and had you believing that he was the right one for you. You felt fulfilled and fell for him.
The second Card is the 5 of Swords in the present position. There are some difficulties, troubles, or arguments making you second guess this situation. This is why you’re unsure.
The third Card is the 6 of Wands in the near future… the advice is you should keep fighting for what you love and come out victorious. You stay true to the situation and keep working at it even if it’s a bit of a temporary struggle.
See how wonderful this advice is? Now, if the card had been the 3 of Swords indicating break up then that would be what the suggestion is for you. Don’t stick with it and part ways even if it hurts. You will heal and move on.
The last card is always the answer in a reading. Depending on your question, it will either be advice or a “yes” or “no” with a bit of an explanation.
When it comes up with a confusing card that doesn’t seem helpful such as Temperance (means balance), you may need to ask for more clarity on that card so you would shuffle and ask for clarity on temperance.
You will then pull one card and throw it down. What is that card? That’s what will help make sense of the last card. Usually when you’re doing a self reading 3 to 6 cards is the best.
If you go further than that then you’re really going to make yourself nuts. You don’t need tons of cards to get your answer.

I have been reading Tarot for over 50 years. I’ve found readings are more accurate when
done for someone other than oneself.
Remarkable Story
I read for my mom years ago and it ended up with the six of swords and then the world. I told her she was going on a trip around the world. She was skeptical until she WON in contests a cruise to China and then another to Hawaii !
Hi Alexis!
Absolutely! People tend to not be objective enough or see it like they would for someone else. They’re too emotionally invested in the outcome which can actually change the cards to reflect what they want or reflect their fears. I absolutely agree! I won’t do cards for anyone too entirely close to me at times for the same reason. Thanks for sharing your story! That’s amazing.
Hello
The one I want to be with does he want to be with me.
The one I am with now will he be able to handle it.
I’ve never had a tarot card reading personally but I do follow 3 readers on yourube and they all hit things on the head I would like a personal reading but don’t want to pay for it but I would like to know how my financial and love life will end up I would love to learn how to do readings for myself
How lovely for Dana ..to have that peace of mind..♡..
I too had things ‘given to me* in messages .intermittently..
The outcomes are not so favourable ..which if not in monetary gain … emotional would of been helpful ..but it has all be negative & not kind to me at all … I’ve felt like I have had a bad *Jin* attached to me..that messed with anything good happening to or for me ..I would love some peace of mind that things would be changing for me ..
But I am pleased that some people do get good things in their lives ! 💞
I don’t know that but I hate winter just like icy and snow! It is too dangerous to walk and drive roads!
I rather live in Hawaii or Florida or Arizona or Texas! I love to beautiful plants all years!
I dreamt as a kid until I was 5. That one day I would win millions. Then since I was 9 years old people and friends dreams of me. I was told I would meet my soul mate and win millions.
How do I get a guide for the cards, what the different cards are and what they mean?
You got it mixed up a little. Wands is the element of fire and Swords is the element of air.
