Getting To Know The Air Signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius

Are you chatty, social, and intellectual? If your first response to a question is to research it or ask for time to really think through the answer, then you may be one of the three signs that corresponds to the air element. Even if you’re not, it’s worth your while to learn about the air signs for a few key reasons.

You likely have planets in your chart in air signs. Even if you don’t, you will have houses in air signs. Plus, when you understand air signs, you’ll be better equipped to understand the motivations and behaviors of those born under this sign. Perhaps even your future love!

They are also usually good communicators and may excel at languages. Air signs usually try to understand others intellectually rather than focusing on emotional empathy.

Though air signs are more intellectual than emotional, Gemini can be seen as the moodier of the air signs. That’s because of Gemini’s dual nature. Geminis may have moods that spiral only to change like the winds. Gemini is the air sign associated with the spring season, and thus the air element in this sign is associated with new beginnings, childlike enthusiasm, and playfulness. 

For those born during Gemini season, roughly May 19 – June 20, the air element craves attention and social connection. Geminis may make friends everywhere the go and keep friends for life. They are chatty and love to talk about any range of topics. They can also seem chameleon-like. 

In Gemini, the air element expresses itself through a gift for communication. Geminis are adaptable, intellectual, and usually have a love of pop-culture. They can have excellent memories and usually like to collect things such as books, records, or electronics.

The friendly and social aspect of the air element is strong in Gemini people who love to have contact with groups of friends rather than just going places alone or with one person. 

Gemini In Love: Desire For Mental Stimulation

When air signs are in love, they may speak diplomatically and romantically, but the emotional bond is not as prominent at first as a mental bond. This means that, especially for Gemini, the connection needs to be one of mental stimulation first. 

Gemini may have a strong sense of fantasy when it comes to love. In the sign of Gemini, the air element is expressed through a mental obsession with their love interest. Gemini will want to communicate with their love interest constantly. They don’t need to live in the same city, but will want to have regular contact through chat, video chat, and phone calls.

Gemini is playful in love and craves the attention of their love interest. Yet they also struggle with commitment. Gemini, like all air signs, fears the grass may be greener somewhere else. The constant fear of missing out keeps Geminis scanning the horizon to see who they may be able to connect with. They also need a high degree of mental stimulation in order to remain happy in a relationship. Otherwise, they will start to become bored and look elsewhere. 

Gemini Careers: The Messenger Of The Air Signs

The air element expresses itself through a desire to communicate and create understanding in the sign of Gemini. Ideal careers for those born under this sign include careers that involve speaking, writing, teaching, and languages. Gemini people make great translators, writer, journalists, and teachers.

They are also usually well versed in electronics and can be computer programmers or work in the IT field. Gemini is also the most youthful of the air signs and may enjoy a career in video game creation, or teaching young children. 

An essential component of any career for a Gemini is that it needs to involve opportunities to travel and great flexibility. Geminis will not thrive working alone in a cubicle inside an office day after day. Because of their gift for conversation, they can also make great salespeople. 

Libra: The Romantic Air Sign

While the air element is expressed through a forever-young and optimistic friendly personality in Gemini, in Libras this energy becomes focused on polarity. Libra is the sign of the scales and balance. For Libras, born roughly September 23 – October 22, the air element brings a romantic sensitivity to this sign. 

Usually, air signs aren’t influenced by emotional vulnerability. Yet in Libra, there is greater sensitivity and compassion. Libra also has a dualistic nature. They can be passive, caring, and gentle. But they also can be assertive and actively fight for what they believe is fair.

In Libra, the air element still needs to feel mentally stimulated, yet they find much of this stimulation from books, the arts, music, culture, and focusing on one friend or partner at a time. Libra doesn’t like to be alone and may be inclined to seek out the approval of others.

Libra In Love: Finding The Ideal Balance

Libras can be romantic and idealistic but also struggle to make commitments in love. This is because they easily fall in love with the image a person presents, but as the relationship becomes more serious, Libra will fear loss of balance. 

In Libra, the air element expresses its changeable nature and sometimes seems inconsistent. Libra may be ready to marry one day and need space the following week. This is particularly likely to happen when Libra feels their individual space and needs are being drowned out by the relationship. Even romantic and loving Libra needs a fair amount of personal space and freedom in relationships, a mark of all air signs.

If a loved one becomes too emotional or vulnerable, Libra may feel smothered. For a Libra, love needs to feel like a fantasy romance movie. Fun, sentimental, and affectionate, they love to be pampered and enjoy uplifting conversation. Yet deep emotional conversations bring Librans out of their heads and into their hearts. This is less comfortable for them.

Libra Careers: Beauty, Justice, & Inspiration

Libra is ruled by the planet Venus and as such, the air element has a desire for beauty and comfort in this sign. Libras are drawn to careers in beauty, the arts, and cultural work. They may enjoy careers as beauticians, salon workers, tattoo artists, or professional artists or musicians. They may also work for museums or cultural centers.

Given their intellectual nature and love of romance, those born under this sign can channel air element creativity into work as wedding planners. They may also design wedding attire or become wedding photographers. 

Like any air sign, they enjoy socializing. Yet they prefer to socialize in intimate one on one settings. They’ll consult with clients directly or work in partnerships rather than thriving in larger teams. 

In Libra, the air element is fair minded as well and may also be drawn to careers involving advocacy, justice, and activism. Libras are usually not highly confrontational, yet many find work as attorneys or politicians, as well as community advocates. Work in nonprofits may also appeal to Libras. 

Aquarius: The Rebellious Air Sign

In the sign of Aquarius, the air element concentrates all of it’s potential for genius and innovation but is not as potent in regards to the air correspondence to social connections. This means that those born in Aquarius season, roughly January 20 through February 18th, are incredibly smart and often ahead of their time. Because of this, they sometimes feel alienated or socially awkward.

This is not to say they aren’t popular. In fact, Aquarians often have many friends from diverse walks of life. They have many quirks, and their friends and loved ones need to accept them exactly as they are because Aquarius will change for no one. 

The rebel of the air signs, Aquarius is both fiercely independent and deeply concerned with society and humanity as a whole. They often have unusual thoughts and ideas which, like great science fiction, usually come to pass in time. Aquarius enjoys groups and organizations and likes to be involved but often, they linger on the outskirts. This helps them avoid being drawn in to any kind of group influence. They need to be their own person.

Though like all air signs, they value connection, Aquarius also can go through phases of introversion. They love to tinker, to innovate, and to invent things. They can also have some extreme beliefs and habits. Aquarians love to shock others and are used to being misunderstood.

Aquarius In Love: Out Of This World Connection

When it comes to relationships, Aquarians will be unconventional, just as they are in all areas of their lives. They may be drawn to people who aren’t fully emotionally available. This works for Aquarius because they aren’t comfortable expressing their own emotions anyway. 

They usually prefer to be friends first, as they need time to develop feelings for others in a romantic way. Aquarians, true to their air sign nature, find and keep friends easily. Yet even more than any of the other air signs, Aquarius doesn’t easily commit in love.

They fear any sign they may lose their independence. They’ll also go to extremes to avoid emotional vulnerability. They may act inexperienced in love because they find ways to hide their true feelings even while acting as if they’re in love. 

Just when a loved one thinks they’ve figured Aquarius out, this sign will completely change everything just to remain elusive. Dating an Aquarius may make you feel as if you’re trying to catch the wind. You can run as fast as you can, but they will always evade your grasp. 

This is why it’s essential to never chase an Aquarian. Let them come to you. If you want to keep their interest, you’ve got to stand out from the crowd and be your own person. Show them you’re as unique and eccentric as they are. 

To successfully date an Aquarius, you have to be out of this world. Stand firm in your beliefs and show them you are exceptional in some way and Aquarius will be drawn to you.

Aquarius Careers: Ahead Of The Curve

When it comes to work and career, Aquarius needs a flexible schedule and as much independence as possible. They will not be micromanaged by any authority figure. Those born under this sign need to roam free like the wind, even in career.

Their ideals and values are paramount and they will not do any kind of work that clashes with their strong beliefs. They are more likely to seek out work that benefits society in some way. Nonprofit work, political organizing, and grassroots activism appeal to Aquarians. 

They can be entrepreneurial because they’d rather work for themselves than be managed by others. If they take this route, their interests may include spiritual or alternative healing work or work related to electronics or computer programming.

Aquarians have a gift for finding career niches that are newly emerging. This sign brings out the innovative side of the air element. They can spot an opportunity long before others see it coming. Even controversial things like cryptocurrency investment can appeal to Aquarius. 

Those born under this sign can also be skilled scientists and inventors. They’re intelligent, analytical, and rational but they don’t get bogged down by concrete thinking, they truly can be open minded.
